Messages of condolence

I was an old friend of Richard. We used to skate together when we were in our late teens. We spent a lot of time together, and he used to stay at my house often. We used to travel together in Jim Wilkes Beetle car to places to skate in the area and further afield. Richard was a good friend. Able to be funny with the minimum of words for maximum comedy. He made all of us laugh so much. He was empathetic and kind. I never heard him say a bad word about anybody. He was also an incredible skateboarder. Easily the most naturally talented of us with a great style, focus and concentration. I lost touch with him when I moved away. But, I would hear how he was doing when I came back to the area and met people who were still in touch with him. I was always happy and interested to hear the news. He was an important and formative friend. I think my personality was forged in those days, when I started the transition from a teenager to an adult. He was an important part of that. For that I thank him so much. He was a great friend. I will miss him and I am very thankful for the time I was lucky enough to have had with him. With love and gratitude.
