St. Michael's Church, Warmington

Warmington is recorded in Domesday Book. Shortly afterwards, the Norman owner, the Earl of Warwick, gave the manor of Warmington to the Benedictine Abbey in Normandy, St.Peter’s at Preaux. Warmington remained in monastic hands, for about 450 years. Monks were sent over from Preaux who built a small Priory which has now disappeared, but the church built under the monks’ supervision, mainly in the early medieval period, remains.

The church stands high above the village, close to the summit of Warmington Hill. The churchyard is entered either by the lych-gate from the main road, or from the village by two long flights of steps. In the older part, and especially near the south porch, are gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries, including several soldiers from the Civil War

St. Michael's Church, Bishop Itchington

St Michael’s is part of the Church of England, in the Coventry Diocese.

The Bishop’s Vision Statement has been the focus of Church life and growth for the last  few years:

  • Worshipping God

  • Making Disciples

  • Transforming Communities

We are a village church, and therefore open to everyone in the village, regardless of their church background. In a recent village survey, the church  was commended as being important, not only as a historic building, but as a caring community.

We are an evangelical church. This means we hold firmly to a Biblical understanding of faith – recognizing that we all fall short of God’s standards, and that it is only through the cross of Jesus that we can find forgiveness and make a new start in a restored relationship with God. We believe that this is Good News (evangel) and that it’s therefore something to be shared and enjoyed together
