Charity details

The Friends Of Sun Rising, Anniversary Daffodil Appeal

The Friends is the charity that works alongside Nature Reserve Burial Grounds, the company that runs Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground and Nature Reserve.

The creation of both a natural burial ground and nature reserve is not something that can be taken on lightly. The responsibilities are enormous. With respect to the burial ground, we are effectively promising to look after loved ones and their final resting place, not just now but into the distant future. As to the development of a truly valuable nature reserve, the timeframe must run into decades, or even centuries. Securing the future of Sun Rising is, therefore, a fundamental part of what we are doing.

While there is space for burial, Sun Rising has an income. However, as that income comes to an end, it will be the Friends of Sun Rising that will take over and care for the burial ground and nature reserve into the future.

The immediate purpose of the Friends, then, is twofold. Firstly, the Friends must raise a sufficient amount of money to ensure the financial security of the site for the long term. Secondly, the Friends' role is to support and enhance the work of the company in creating the natural, peaceful haven that is Sun Rising, adding to its stability and sustainability. In doing so, the charity becomes a part of the creation of a community of Friends, which further goes to help and protect the site.
